My personal view of the freebie stuff that is put out by MOST ( Not
All ) vendors who also sell products is that in essence you get what
you pay for ...
I do however find a couple of the non freebie techniques that are used
to be of interest ... but I would never use a black box version of
anything to trade as IMHO one needs to understand what happens
internally with any system and/or indicator. Fortunately writeups,
algorithms and sometimes even code for just about anything can be
found on the web especially for general techniques which have been
employed and then some how marketed to appear as if they were also
invented there.
For some history of where some of techniques came from at least in
public form as applied to markets I would suggest looking back at the
early issues of TASC ( 1981 - 3 ) which are available for cheap
online.
