Assuming the "~~~equity" ticker works the same as the Equity function (but
applied to all stocks being traded, if you have selected that option) then
the amount displayed is the available cash plus unrealized gains (or losses)
of open positions. The change in available cash is, of course, locked in
when a position closes.
Sounds like you want to find out the available cash without the addition of
unrealized gains (or losses).
I have a visualization for trades and cumulative equity that is intended to be
added to indicators for individual stocks. It computes the available cash
value by looking up the equity at the last buy/sell/short/cover trade. It
also shows the unrealized gains (or losses) relative to the available cash
value. I find this helps a lot in learning how well (or badly) my automated
system is working. I'll post it in the next couple days.
Seems like the available cash value ought to be available more easily. Hmm, I
can't find anything relevant in the online help.
