I've never doe this, but could you put a Bollinger Band on the volume?  When you touch the top band the volume is deemed "significant".

My experience is that simpler is better. This is what I use to improve
the signals of my system (it works for me):

...(setup)  AND ma(v,3) > ma(v,10)
