Yes, your system is acting crazy. Check just checks. It does not run or
even save your formula. NOTE: The little (tiny) red box that appears to
have a checkmark in it is NOT the check button, that is the APPLY button
which does what you describe. The check button is a checkmark with small
letters AFL over the top of the checkmark.
Yes you can have parameters in AA for any of the AA functions. It never
auto opens the params. This only happens on a chart when you drag a
chart formula containing parameters onto another chart.
I would be inclined to a) reinstall AB, b) contact support for help.

reason I ask is that when I load the formula into AA and then click the
Parameters button - it runs the formula and THEN opens the param
window!!!???
