I know this has had some discussion, but I don't recall there ever being a completely satisfactory answer. When running two instances of AB...one for EOD testing and one for intraday trading, I have had some frustrating problems with templates/layouts. Both instances are using different databases.
I have layouts that are local to the EOD database and others that are local to the intraday database.
Periodically, and for no reason that I can make out, indicator panes in the intraday database instance will start up with their AFL missing or carried over from the EOD database layouts. I can't make out a pattern, but it is very frustrating to have to rebuild things.
Yesterday I spent a lot of time creating alerts in one of the panes in my intraday database layout. Today when I loaded that instance of AB (the EOD instance was already running), not only was the new code missing, but the underlying indicators were also gone. I didn't save the AFL but assumed it would be retained when I saved the template and layout.
Any ideas as to how to avoid this kind of flakiness when running multiple instances?
