I'll just throw in my two cents worth on event based trading and say
that it is one of the quickest ways to lose alot of money. Most events
are already priced into the market (weekly energy storage numbers).
Institutional traders have run models and forecasts that are much more
sophisticated than any single trader can imagine and price moves are
usually made in anticipation of the "event". Quite often an "event"
will occur which seems very bearish to an individual investor but the
pros have already moved the market down and are simpply looking for an
opportunity to buy b/c their models are bullish for the following week's
data.
You do not need a chart to trade the event. As a rule I will NEVER put
a trade on for at least 30 minutes after an "event" b/c the market needs
time to digest the info before it shows its true colors.
Just my opinion.
