Jason this was just discussed in past week and past month
If the volume exceeds a certain number (something like 2^32) it will overload and show a large negative number.
You can change the volume being read by a factor in amiquote so teh volumes are received.
New beta of AB I think allow for this by just showing the highest number AB will read.

Joe - good luck with the Yahoo data. I gave up on the "free" data a long time ago and now pay the $32/month. It's well worth it.....you get what you pay for.
You're right about the second question. You ask 10 people to define an uptrend and you'll get 10 different answers. Simplistically you could say anything above its 50 day MA is in an uptrend or how about a certain reading on the ADX indicator.

I am using AmiQuote 1.81. The volume on the indexes from Yahoo Historical show a lot of negative numbers. I have tried using
different servers. I have deleted all quotes from the symbol and did a 'new' download, but still get some negative volume numbers. Any help appreciated.
My next question probably has as many answers as readers. What
determines a market uptrend? I was thinking something along the lines of; C > Ref(C,-2) and Ref(C,-2 > Ref(c,-5). Any ideas on this also appreciated. Joe
