for me, solves a far more important problem—how to quickly recognize that a
chart is inadvertently scrolled back!

the elegance of QuoteTracker’s red-scrollbar solution, but I grew tired of
asking for that.

You can't really do that, but you can "trick" the plots.
Make this your last plot statement for whatever color you want:
Plot(1,"",colorWhite,StyleOwnScale);
