Please keep us informed as soon as you have some detailed results.  I am (and several others are) planning on upgrading our hardware.  

 

My current system is quite adequate for the vast majority of my needs.   The specific reason for the upgrade is better AB performance.    For example, if you say that 8Gb of memory will provide a large increase in performance over 2GB, I’ll buy 8 Gb.     I want my system tuned for AB performance.

 

Please give us detailed results as soon as you feel comfortable discussing them.

Hello,

I wrote about this here a week ago or so.
Shortly: theoretically dual core processor (provided that application
fully utilises multi-threading) can give you twice the performance
of single-core. In practice gains are smaller of course.
It is too early for me to give you exact numbers.
