As I recall, at least some of the other DJ
indices, including Utilities and Transportation, have both actual and
theoretical data. I think the other index families such as S&P only
have a single type and I presume that is theoretical because the data goes
back before tick data was available.

Thanks for enlightenment...This is all new to me.
Do you know if this happens with other indexes?
Thanks

Dick:
One has to be careful when comparing DJIA data
because data suppliers supply the index either as theoretical or
actual. The two differ in the reported H and L. Theoretical data
averages H and L for the components at the EOD. The actual averages H
and L for the components in near RT and then takes the highest and lowest
values at EOD. Data prior to 1992 is all theoretical because tick data
was not available.

FWIW, yahoo ^DJI data is a mess. Yesterday I
noticed a big difference in an indicator and a published indicator for
^DJI. ( John Murphy daily update). Indicator was ADX. After
pulling out what hair I've got, and with help of a friend, the problem
finally became clear. High , low data for ^DJI is wrong. Open and Close
appeared okay. Even after doing historical update.
Be careful if you use indexes from
yahoo.

That does not appear to be the problem. I
changed the default directory but it made no difference.
Finally checked some other symbols and they
seem to be normal.
Just the ^DJI stops at 11/23/05 and will
not update.
Thanks for the effort.

Could your default database folder be
wrong? Sorry for jumping into the middle of this...don't have the
initial thread for problem. But if AQ is loading your data into
AB in wrong folder or non default folder, you need to
switch.

Dick,
I haven't looked at this for years now,
and I am just heading out for a two-day trip, so can't really
look into it now, but I think the answer must lie in the
importing of data from the Amiquote download folder into
AmiBroker. First thing to check would be the
directory, AmiBroker\Amiquote\Download\. It probably will
contain all the data files from the download. If so, study the
help file on how to imort data from there. Also, check into
what is needed in settings so that Amiquote will automatically
import the data to AmiBroker next time. Sorry I can't give you
more
help.
