Eric,
There are quite a few of us who use the QP database. As for using the
S&P 500 just create a watch list and screen against that. I have
included the symbols but they can be downloaded as well as the other S&P
indices at this site.

Since this is the S&P's site it is always current versus QP's symbol
lists. Import the attached text file into a watch list. The symbols have
already been converted from S&P's style to QP's symbol style.
