RE: [amibroker] Re: Inserting 2 (or more) Price Charts in Main Chart pane

i'm not a programmer either, but Marcin helped me out--so hopefully i can
repay the help...
i have this set up for futures, but it should work for stocks too.

here are examples--

in sheet 1, the top chart at the beginning of the code, define your symbols:
ticker1="SPY";
ticker2=    and so on.

still in the sheet 1, top chart, use a StaticVarSetText for each symbol;
StaticVarSetText("S&P Trust", ticker1);

then you will need to create a chart which will be unique to each symbol you
want charted, so--
add to the beginning of the code:
SetForeign(StaticVarGetText("S&P Trust"));

Save this chart with it's original name plus SPY as an example.

create as many new charts as you have defined symbols.

then on the sheet you want to add the identical charts, right click the
chart and select Insert.

now you can have the same chart, with different symbols a sheet.

now a few conditions/observations i have found.
1. Sheet 1 has to be displayed before the symbols are defined--makes sense
since this is where the definitions are.
2. while viewing your identical charts you draw trendlines to add Fib
retracements, whichever symbol (it could be any of them in your Workspace)
is selected--those lines will be "stored" under that symbol. iow, if i have
IBM selected, and then draw a trendline on the S&P Trust chart, i will need
to select IBM to see that trendline next time. IF i select SPY, it won't be
there. this odd behavior will also been seen with different time frames. a
bit strange in operation, but that's the way it works....

hth,
ron

Thanks for the information. I am not a programer so have no earthly
idea what the "foreign" function is or where it would be used? to get
one price chart to overlay the other? More information would be most
 helpful. Perhaps there is an AFL that perfomrs this task?
