It's used some times as measure of how well the signal should have done.   I've been taught

and  found that of all the signals I've tested the best came within only 40% of what a Zig signal would

provide; and that again is another metric.  Just like steam turbines don't run at 100% efficiency

it a good measure to know how you're doing.
