Hi TJ,
I would just like to make 2 points if I may:
1) QP data is certainly usable but it is really a mess, and I think, can
only really be fixed correctly when the QP people decide to fix things on
their end. People have been asking them for years to fix it but they never
do anything about it. Maybe that is why they can supply so much data so
cheaply - no efforts at maintenance on their part. Anyway, I just wanted to
say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your hard work to try and fix this problem.
Especially when it is not even your fault to begin with - I just wanted to
let you know that your efforts are very much appreciated!
2) I just ran Cleanup Database script and after running it, was left with
about 25,800 tickers. Then I ran new plugin with both new options checked,
and now I have 28,500 tickers - almost 3,000 new tickers, that are
apparently labelled "0" for currently trading, and apparently must have a
few quotations, but are not actually current. Plus, running plugin with
"only currently traded" checked does not retrieve the !IDxxx industry
indices, so I imagine that many of us will not want to use that option. Just
a thought here - might it not be better to just have the plugin get the
latest trading date, either by letting the user enter it, or if possible by
automatically checking the latest date for !DJI and comparing other tickers
against it? That way, I think that all current tickers would be imported no
matter what category, and all non-current tickers would be excluded. What do
you think? Thanks again for listening!
