One other thing - to prevent such accidents - click the settings button in the AA window and on the  Report Tab click the "Warn before running time-consuming optimizations" so that it is checked.

Jumping in here…

It’s been while since I had a problem, but if you mistakenly run a very long optimization because of some unexpected issue (like having all tickers checked when you really only wanted current ticker), cancel does not work for me either. You must kill the program or wait. Using 4.70.5

You should have mentioned that was your problem and then ask for what others have done when they had very long optimizations rather than ask for a solution without describing the problem.

As far as very long optimizations go have a number of things you could do:

Reduce the ranges and increase the increments to get an idea of the "hot spots" and then go back later and do a more "granular" approach on them.

But if you really need to optimize a large number of variables in a granular fashion then I would suggest strongly that you look into using "IO" (Intelligent Optimizer)  by Fred Tonetti.  It is in the files section on this group and is a "breakthru" in optimization - but don't just jump into it and start doing stuff without reading the docs very carefully.  As the IO docs state - support is provided privately by sending an email to Fred.

If your optimization process takes 10-20 hours you will understand
why
