You can reduce the number of rows by reducing the number of optimizations which is done by tweaking the params in the optimize statements.   Key word is "Optimize" not backtest.  
 
The dates really have nothing to do with the rows in an optimization.

Of course you are correct. I was thinking of what I normally do vis’a’vis EXPLORE and trading an index.

 

How’s this? “You can still control the quantity by the dates of the backtest, but it’s not necessarily a one for one proposition.”

since its 1 row per each combination of optimized variables you might wanna rethink that.
