and to answer second part of your question, yes, there is a benefit in having registry entries as most apps store configs, preferences etc in the registry. Also many apps on install place files in the Windows directory & will not run if the files (generally dll's) are not found there.

Only way is to re-install the applications, choosing their current location on drive D when prompted for install location.

I had to re-install Windows 2000 Pro. Installation OK, but my registry is empty .... none of the applications (on Drive D:) are now in the registry.
 
2 questions:
 
1. Is there a utility that will scan system and automoaticalyy register all instaaled application?
 
2. Is there a benefit to having them regidtered?
