As to your questions/statements:

There is no option to install without it, if only you run official setup from:
http://www.amibroker.com/download.html
However, for FastTrack to appear in the DATA SOURCE list you have
to be FASTTRACK CUSTOMER, i.e. you have to have installed their program
called "FastTrack for the Web".
If you don't have "FastTrack for the Web" installed on your system, then
"FastTrack" will not appear obviously.

This is obvious - FastTrack data source appears if only you are using FastTrack.

The page you are mentioning says "Special offer, Purchase AmiBroker Standard till 20 September 2002"
So the information is about the promotional purchase of AmiBroker license
with extended free upgrade period. As you can see the offer was valid till September 2002.
Now you can purchase AmiBroker license with standard free upgrade period (5 major 0.1 upgrades)
Note that you can evaluate FastTrack plugin WITHOUT purchasing the license,
just using TRIAL version.

there is a large letter text:
"To download free trial version click here "
If you clicked on the link you would be redirected to
http://www.amibroker.com/download.html
Where you can download FREE TRIAL version.
All you needed to do was to click on the link that was right before your eyes.
To summarize, you (as everyone else) were given trial period.
Actually it did not require any action on our part because trial version is available to the public
straight from our web page http://www.amibroker.com - links are everywhere including "Download FREE TRIAL" link
in the center.

1. the information about free trial was included at the very same page you mentioned
2. on ORDERING page itself http://www.amibroker.com/order.php there is a following information:
"Orders placed through this page are subject to terms and conditions document, specifically, we assume that you installed AmiBroker
before ordering and checked if it fits your needs. If you haven't installed it yet - please download free trial and evaluate before
ordering.
Again: you have to INSTALL FREE TRIAL VERSION FIRST and check if the program suits your needs. "
