Re: [amibroker] Re: Newbie Question: Chart Templates

Custom folder is (should be) inside Formula folder. Files should have the extension .AFL. From the chart pane you should be able to see your Custom folder, open it and double-click any AFL inside and it will make the copy. To link one you must right-click and choose linked. Of course, if you open Formula Editor and open a file from there and Apply you will also have a LINKED chart.

Terry, thanks.

I tried your solution, but none of my chart templates appear in the
Chart Pane of Workspace. They are all in my Custom folder with
filetype ALY, and I can load them without problems by right clicking
on the chart and choosing Template\Load.

So, I can't find a way to double-click on the template XXX in the
Chart Pane of Workspace.

This is AmiBroker 4.70rc1.

Is it possible that something's changed in AmiBroker, or that there's
a configuration setting I need to adjust to display Templates in the
Chart Pane?

David

David,

Sounds like you have linked your chart to your original XXX file.
Try double-clicking XXX in the Chart Pane of Workspace. This gives

you a

new chart that is not connected to your original XXX file, thus any
changes you make to it will not modify the original XXX. Next time you
want a clean chart of XXX just double-click it again from Chart pane.

Hi, I'm new to AB (couple of weeks) and am using 4.70rc1.

I'm puzzled by behavior I'm seeing from custom chart templates.

Simplest example: I open a chart with a saved template, say XXX. In
the course of looking at that chart, I decide that I'd like to add
another indicator, just for that particular moment. So, I add the
indicator, say a moving average. Then I'm done with that review and
go on to other things.

Sometime later (and haven't closed AmiBroker in the meantime), I apply
template XXX to a different symbol. The indicator that I added in
what I thought was a temporary mode earlier, has been saved in the
template definition. E.g., that moving average that I added above for
a brief inspection of another symbol is automatically saved to the
template.

Is this by design? If so, is there a way around this? I.e., can I
open a symbol with a template, analyze it by adding other indicators,
but not affect the definition of the template?

BTW, I have turned off the automatic saving of Templates on Exit.
That doesn't seem to affect this question.

Thanks,
David
