[amibroker] trying to find valuewhen(date) is reached

HI,
I wish to plot close when a date is entered into paramdate.

start = ParamDate("buy DATE" ,"1/1/2005 " ) ;

START is the input param data from screen. 

SO my englishcode is 

valclose = VALUEWHEN( start == todaysdate , close ) ;

PLOT ( valclose ) ;

CAN anyone help with he details ??
