One of the methods I use for testing multiple options is to
use #include
I have a single basic file with all the calculations and for
each outer file I put the variable values I want to modify before the Include
statement
As a very very simple example (where B is resultant of A )
A = 5;
#INCLUDE <abc.afl>
plot( b, “b”, colorblack, styleline);
then another clone
A = 10;
#INCLUDE <abc.afl>
plot( b, “b”, colorblack, styleline);

4.66.1 AFL Editor & Indicator Builder Screens
Graham, I am still using 4.56beta
Professional because I have very limited understanding of the programmer lingo
that is used to explain most of these changes in the later
versions.
When I think of a new Indicator, I
will usually make several clones of it, and then do different tweaking of it in
different indicator windows.
Each of these clones has a slight
variation in how I name it.
As long as each clone has
a distinctive name, I am assuming that each clone would be
unaffected by the changes that I make in the other clones, as it now is in 4.56
beta Professional
In this development process, I
might find that feature "C" is a keeper. Could I quickly
incorporate this selected feature "C" into the other clones by simply
temporarily making all of their names identical. Then, all of the clones
would be "re-cloned".
At that point, I would reintroduce
the distinction into their names, and continue tweaking.
Is this a correct
understanding of what I think may be implied by this answer you have so
generously contributed.

In Edit window click on Analysis button
In analysis window click on Edit button
The new setup makes life much easier for me as a change in the edit makes
the same changes in the charts, saving me from having different variations
current, and losing changes because I edited in different windows

Hello Tomasz,
Does this mean that you are saying there are no settings that will
give me the 'look and feel' of AB 4.63, where I have everything 'in
one place'?
Here is what I find annoying: If I want to run Explore or Backtest or
Optimize I click on the 'Analysis' option and I get a full-screen
Analysis window. But then if I need some AFL code change I have
to 'Pick' and then 'Edit', which again pulls up another full-screen
window. If I want to go quickly from the Edit screen to the Analysis
screen I see no easy route, in other words I don't see any way to
quickly toggle back and forth.
If there is a way I would very much appreciate knowing.
Please RSVP.
Sincerely,
Josef
