  Tomasz
can u explain what the advantages of using this program are ?
I am not familiar with any of them but am keen to learn to get backup
  automated procedures in place

Backup programs do one of two things, or both. Create an image of a drive which can then be restored (individual files or the whole drive) or copy the whole drive to another drive, producing a bootable 2nd drive. I'm using Drive Image 7, but I'm sure that other programs do the same thing. Be sure, however, to use a program that does not lose data from the source in case there is a power or hardware failure (believe me, very important!). Scheduled backups, I believe, is a fairly standard option. In addition, I use a program that automatically backs up files that I specify whenever there is a change. So on the 2nd drive I have a full backup (image or bootable copy) plus all changes made since the total backup was made. So, choose the program that you like and routinely backup.
