[amibroker] Re: Intraday Backtesting - Where to get data?

I don't trade intra-day, except when trying to sell/buy at forecasted
high/low of day. My EOD system depends on closing prices to generate
signals. I don't know how it would work in an intra-day setting
because there is no well defined close price except at the points of
time when the data is updated. If that is a considered a close price,
then the same EOD system could be adapted for an intra-day system.
But it is not a real close price but a pseudo close price. The price
as such has not reached an equilibrium where it tends to equalize
supply and demand. In such a scenario, as such it is not possible to
measure the hope, fear and greed factors in the market, because they
are not well defined. Trying to con the law of supply and demand is a
recipe for a sure exit from the speculative game. If an EOD system
seems to work for an intra-day time period, it is the work of Goddess
Fortuna, ie., pure luck, no matter how many times it is successful,
and again if failure is too costly to bear, it may not be worth it.

I assume that you accumulate the intra-day data for a period of time
till you have enough period to cover, say 3 months.

Nicholas Taleb put it this way: "One cannot judge a performance in any
given field by the results, but by the costs of the alternative (i.e.,
if history played out in a different way). Such substitute courses of
events are called alternative histories. Clearly the quality of a
decision cannot be solely judged based on its outcome, but such a
point seems to be voiced only by people who fail (those who succeed
attribute their success to the quality of their decision). Like with
other risks, confusing strategy and outcome can lead to the
abandonment of a well-thought-out plan.
