William,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I can’t be sure
about Dave’s question either but I believe he and I were
talking about how you would actually use the functions of
AdvIssues & DecIssues. etc listed in the AFL help. I was
under the impression these were functions I could use in
creating formulas within AFL or in conjunction with
Composites.

Issues
I was looking for way to use them in some custom breadth
measures I use in my group work but if they are not
available in AFL this may explain why there is no reference
or samples of them in the archives or the help files.
In regards to the AD Line on custom composites, I am able to
use the calculate composites tool under the Symbol menu to
work on all of the Markets except Market 253 which is the
default for composites. Since I could not get that ever to
create an AD Line I run a scan to do it. Am I missing
something simple to get the Market 253 directory to build
their respective AD lines?
Thanks again for your help.

Duke/Dave,
Below is a copy of a post I sent back on the 8th Sept 04.
These are
detailed instructions for setting up the AD-Line in
AmiBroker. I hope
that is what you are after, reading your post I'm not 100%
sure so post
back if its different.
You can also see here HYPERLINK

----Copied from previous post---
Most of the indicators should work without any problems.
i.e. RSI OBV
but the AD-Line is different.
Before you can use the AD-Line you will need to configure
some base
indexes for each market of interest and then run the
calculate
composite tool.
(I'll use the Nasdaq market as an example, if you don't have
a Nasdaq
market, use the market that you have available)
1) Configuring the base index ticker for each market:
My ticker name for the Nasdaq index is !COMP, this ticker is
supplied to me by my data provider (QuotesPlus).
You need to set this ticker as an AmiBroker index by right
clicking on the ticker in the
workspace, then select Information and tick the Index box.
You also need to make sure this ticker is in the Nasdaq
market by
selecting Nasdaq from the Market drop down list box. Click
OK
2) Setting the base indexes for the market composites:
Main menu--Symbol\Categories\Market\Composites
Click on the market (Nasdaq) and select the !COMP from the
drop down
composite list box. Click OK
3) Perform the composite recalculation:
Main menu--Symbol\Calculate Composites
Click the Delete button.
Tick the Number of Advancing/Declining Issues box.
Select Last n Quotes and enter the number of bars (i.e 252
for one year with daily data).
Select Nasdaq from This Market drop down list box.
Click Calculate button.
You should now see the AD-Line in the chart pane for all
stocks in the AmiBroker Nasdaq
Market.
