Great to see Amibroker getting much deserved attention!
HOWEVER...I think that the assessment of AFL was unfair: "difficult
to master from scratch but fairly easy to modify..."? It's ability
to do so much without looping means that a non programmer can code up
systems. I mean, just compare the code in TASC from any other
package and anyone can see that this is an easy to use language. If
you know Excel, Amibroker is a snap. There is no way I would be
making the money I am making if I had to deal with any of the other
languages.
Tomasz is the Henry Ford of trading system backtesting platforms.
Amibroker is an awesome achievement.
For that reason, Amibroker deserves more support. I think that while
the idea of free support is generous, it is unrealistic, given the
price of the software. I wish there were a premium support package I
could buy so that I could get my problem resolved ( Amibroker is not
collecting index data through the IB plugin ). The free e-mail
support line discussion I was having just plain ended, before the
problem was solved. I sent a response on 14th of July and have not
heard back since. To me, this--along with a comment here that the
new support help was an out of pocket expense--is a sign that there
needs to be an optional fee for additional support.
