Re: [amibroker] Status("firstvisiblebarindex") vs Status("firstvisiblebar")

Sure I apply some discretion... sadly enough too often panic, chase stocks,
go in/out of a position, and do all the stupid things one shouldn't do. I
haven't learned to actually trade 100% mechanically. Almost each and every
time that happens and i look back I would have done better to just stick to
the system.

If you got 70% then you are doing darn good :-) do not complain.
Congratulations are in order!

Ideas? I hardly ever use any traditional TA indicator, in fact i have none
on my charts or in my systems. I just work with the price. Look at bar
charts, plot each OHLC price with a line and try to observe what happens at
the turning points. If you look long enough you'll start to see
relationships between the OHLC prices. Do the same with smoothed versions of
the OHLC, try all smoothing functions you can get your hands on. In EOD I
only use short time frames, 3 to 8 bars at most. Study the basic stochastic
formula by plotting it's components separately, it will reveal more
relationships. I always break down my formulas into basic components and
plot these to help me understand what is happening.

Each person on this list will have his/her own preferred formulas. As I
wrote once before, there are a multitude of formulas that all exploit the
very same market anomaly, there is no one perfect formula, but there are
many that describe/detect the same price behavior.

Good luck,
perhaps some other, more experienced traders can give you some other ideas.

So you never trade 100% on a mechanical system and apply some
discretion to them? If I can't create a system does reasonably well
over the course of many years than I wouldn't want to trade 100%
mechanically myself. But I have yet to create a system that was
anywhere near as good as 70% or better. Are you getting ideas from
Active Trader magazine and the like or are you just tinkering? I
would like to get some ideas to twist and manipulate.
