Strange.
I am not a windows expert so the following are just
guesses.
Perhaps the CPU is waiting for the Hard disk. This happens
to me sometimes when trying to optimize when the data will
not all fit into RAM. Complex formulas can eat up a lot of
RAM since a single line of code may create a half dozen
arrays. Thus sometimes Memory Commitments have exceeded the
physical RAM avaialable.
What does the Windows Task Manager say for the following?
"Commit Charge (K)"
"Physical Memory (K)/Available"
