You might try the following programs.  Both 
are excellent and free.
 
The first is: Spybot -Search & 
Destroy

It removes any ad/spyware that's already on your 
computer.
 
The second is: SpywareBlaster

This program prevents any ad/spyware to be 
installed on your computer in the first place.  It runs in the 
background and does not interfere with any regular computer/internet 
operations.
