Thanks for the information, Yuki.
As far me it is still important to have light weight easily
movable monitors, hence my preference for the LCD.
In case you have a little extra time when ever you go in to
look at the BenQ, remember they also have some attractively priced larger
LCD monitors, such as 36" or 42" wide. This is what I am looking
forward to having in my next set up. The weight is a little more than I
would prefer, but I think for the size it will be balanced well for occasional
lifting and moving around.
I'd be interested in knowing what you think of the display
quality of these lager models. I have heard that a
significant advancement has been achieved in the production processes
permitting the re pricing of the large LCD screens down in line with current
popularly priced TVs of the same and similar size.
To me that means under $2,000 US. Even now tigerdirect.com had
some BenQ large screens for under $2500. It seems to me logical to presume that
the enormous increase in size could offset a slew of low specification
statistics in presenting a greatly improved readability and comfort too in
monitor jockeying.

those are available here in Tokyo, too. Icannot stand to look at a
laptop display for very long withoutgetting tremendous eye fatigue.
One problem is simply that my eyesare not as powerful as they were years
ago. (I had the equivalent ofabout 20-15 vision as a young woman, which is
supposedly an acuityfound in only about 1 out of 100,000 people.)
But apparently*everyone* with vision that sharp needs reading glasses once
theyreach a (ahem) certain (/ahem) age. And sadly, those kinds of
eyesseem to deteriorate faster as we get older than people who
arenearsighted at an early age and have to get glasses in
primaryschool. I have reading glasses -- (my eyes are fine, my arms just
arenot long enough) -- and simple magnifiers that I use for
thecomputer. I don't need glasses except in those two cases . . .
fornow. It just killed me to need to put on glasses for the
computer. It started about 4 years ago.So, I like bright, and
sharp, and fully saturated. Put "very" infront of all of those
adjectives. I will admit my experience withlaptops, which is getting
a bit dated now, has soured me on lookingat flat panels. They get
cheaper and better all the time I know, butI've still heard that they
can't touch a good CRT yet.Bottom line for now is that Mitsubishi is
willing to send out a brandnew monitor and have me try it. I told
them it has to be 1) new, notrefurbished, and 2) perfect, or back it
goes. We'll see how it goeson Monday when the new one arrives.
If it is perfect, I'll probablykeep it. Easy and cheap. But if
not, I may give up on CRTs and tryFPs. I know I'll have to pay up
for an FP though. I simply don'twant any ghosting, period -- I do
digital video, too.YukiSend BUG REPORTS
