Yuki,
Dead guns in monitors happen all the time. It's a very common fault that
shouldn't cost that much to fix. Usually just a transistor plus labour. I
would get a quote for getting the old monitor fixed. Just about any TV
repair place should be able to handle the job. Unless it was the tube of
course; then forget it.

Subject: [amibroker] OT: monitor query
I had a blue gun go out in a very nice Viewsonic over the weekend.
Way past warranty. I've always admired the Mitsubish Diamondtrons,
so I bought one over the net and it came today. Model is a 19"
RDF193H.
I'm not so thrilled about what I'm seeing, and I wonder if anyone can
suggest whether I'd be better off sending this back for another try,
or sending it back and buying a different model.
The picture is very clear, however I guess what you call saturation
is not up to what I think a nearly 500 dollar CRT should be. The
upper left corner is noticeable "dirty", and I don't like it. I also
find no control for adjusting saturation on the corners, like there
was on the Viewsonic.
Just a bad tube, or does anyone have any other recommendations? Am I
being too picky? Generally, the Mitsubishi come highly recommended.
And no, I don't want a flat panel, they are not bright enough for my
old eyes -- yet. Maybe next time.
Yuki
