Yup, you're confused. ^^_^^ By time frame I mean this, basically: A
B&H comparison becomes more and more meaningless, the shorter the
time frame. The longer the time frame however, particularly when we
start measuring in multiple-year increments or longer, the more
meaningful such a comparison becomes. Needless to say (at least
IMHO), if you can't beat the market over any lengthy period of time,
you should buy an index fund and be done with the hassle. If you
*can* beat the market however, welcome to trading.
I know there are people here who beat the market. I also know that
where I live beating the market over the past 10 years has been
pretty easy (the ^225 was trading at half of current levels about 8
years ago or so). But I'm also sure there are a lot of people
trading and attempting to trade that would be better served by an
index fund.
