Best not to get too excited about a Datek or Ameritrade
plugin. The IB plugin was predicted to be available in the fall of 2002 if
my memory is not too faulty. The reason I remember this is because my
son decided to buy Amibroker based on this prediction of when the IB plugin
would be available. In spite of the fact that the IB plugin
has never happened, and who knows when it will happen, his buying
Amibroker has turned out very good for me. This is because I would never
would have even tried to learn to use Amibroker if it were not for my
son coaching me in the beginning.
I delete virtually all of the posts
relating to backtesting, because I know It would be very difficult for me
to learn how to do it. Furthermore, I think it is not the best way to try
and find winning trades. I have no idea why I read his post, but just
today, I read part of a post by pal suggesting that perhaps a walk foreward
approach might be more useful. IMHO he is absolutely correct.
Since I don't have the ability to do the backtesting,
about all that I can do is spend a lot of time studying the interactions of the
GUPPY patterns of moving averages of all sorts of things such as OBV(), RSI,
ATR, etc. Learning how to predict when greed is about to get the
upperhand over fear can be useful. I still need to improve my scans
because they are many times a few days early, and they also still give me buy
signals when a downtrending stock does a significant upward correction on its
