yeah, since I: 
 
    a) get the same 'open' error 
with both "path\file" and <file> syntaxes
    b) can get as far as the 
'function not found error' with no script body
 
i'm pretty sure that it is not a path 
problem...
 
i guess i will just add the script body back in, a 
chunk at a time...
