Thanks a lot for providing me with your experience about Quote.com!
 
As regards the "slow speed" you mentioned when downloading data from their server, I suppose that this effect can very well be related to the number of simultaneous downloads and also to the number of automatic retries, and furthermore, delay between retries, which you might modify in AmiQuote under the menu Tools >> Settings.

I did this shortly after the market opened this morning in order to capture today's Open prices and compare them to yesterday's High.
 
One thing I noticed is that, at least today in the middle of US market hours, it was very slow. (The 'interval' you set in Amiquote may affect this; i am not sure.) 
 
One other potential benefit of quote.com is free options data (OHLC and Volume; I was hoping for Open Interest but haven't been able to get other than 0's in that field as of yet)
