Steve,
Copying files although works does not perform actions that setup does
hence you don't have custom tools setup.
You need to run SETUP on new machine / hard drive if you want
all things being set up correctly. There is an option (enabled by default)
in the setup program called "Setup custom tools menu" and among
other things it creates 'auto-update entry'.
Alternativelly you can add this item manually using Tools->Customize menu.
