I get an error with this, can someone help me?

newh = Ref(HHV(RelStrength(!SPX ) , 250),-1);

I use quotes plus data and the symbol !SPX is supposed to be the S&P 
500.

I get an error that SPX needs to be initialized- what does that mean?
