First of all your code produces SYNTAX ERROR
because InWatchList function requires ONE ARGUMENT
(watch list number).
Second thing is that InWatchList function returns 1 (if given symbol belongs
to watch list passed as argument) or 0 otherwise.
it does not return watch list number (as your code assumed)
Correct use is:
Filter= InWatchList( x ) AND InWatchList( y );

banks AND the ASX200 watchlists, so using AND is correct Perhaps you could
explain why I am wrong

Filter = InWatchList( X ) AND InWatchList( Y );
//where X and Y arre the watchlist numbers
InWatchList function returns TRUE or FALSE depending if
given symbol belongs to watch list of the number given by the argument of
function call.

I downloaded the groups from the ASX website and imported them into AB.
One further question is:
I want to run a back test or a scan on say the banks in the ASX 200. I have
a watchlist called ASX 200 and one called banks. But I have not figured out
how to achieve the result I am looking for.
Any ideas would be appreciated

I get them from the ASX website, but I believe the csv file for importing
via script is posted to the files at the yahoo site or amibroker website
forum. There is also a script for doing the import there.
