I use the downloaded software version of IB. (You can also use the
online web version).
The speed (for me...cable access) is instant if I sell at the bid or
buy at the ask. A split second. One blink and its done.
If you are looking for inexpensive (keep your profits), I highly
recommend my setup for swing trading. IB and Quotetracker (free). I
occasionally update Amibroker (EOD version) intraday with Yahoo
current (free).
My monthly data costs are $ 0.
Software is paid for, no monthly fees.
IB charges peanuts 1 cent to 500 shares 1/2 cent over 500.
I swing trade (EOD basis) trades last 2-15 days, long and short.
I have been trading (part time) for about 20 years, tried all kinds
of software, trading rooms etc..currently I am trading part time, I
have a full time career and am on the road frequently. Sometimes to
busy to trade for a full month.
Since October 2002 Amibroker and my set up has resulted in:
Total increase 127%
Annualized 170%
Total Trades 40
Winners 31
Losers 9
Win rate 77%
Thank you Thomasz, William Peters, Dimitri, Anthony, Jason, Herman
and any others I may have missed. This board has provided insight,
help and trading results far beyond my expectations
Amibroker and this group is phenomenal.
I only wish that all 3rd party vendors that call themselves a plug-
in, trading formulas or systems etc would link to Thomasz main site
for purchase, as PowerScan has done (William Peters-well done!).
Amibroker is the basis for all of your products and Thomasz should
receive some compensation. I also wish that 3rd party pricing and
customer service attitude remain within the spirit of Amibroker,
affordable to all, and a friendly helping hand when required as
Thomasz does so graciously (even for the occasional "dumb" question)
