Mark,
there is nothing misapplied in Anthony´s code.
The (endY-startY)/(endX-startX) *is* the tangent of the angle and the
atan of this *will* give the angle.
Do not confuse the visual experience, it has nothing to do with the
correct application of tangent definition.
