Thanks for the background,  it was just what I had 
expected.
 
I hauled out my calculator and tried a few stocks to see what 
the actual formula is.
 
It appears to be:
 
Stock Price Close / Index Close * 10^3
 
I find that curious as the resulting number is not a direct 
read in ratio form or 
percent form.
 
Ratio form would be  Stock Price Close / Index 
Close.
 
Percentage form would be Stock Price Close / Index Close * 
10^2.
 
Any particular reason for the formula as is?  Perhaps 
someone will comment.
