Hello,
Indeed it was a virus but it was *NOT* sent from my computer,
although it may appear like this.
Problem is that the virus e-mail engine masquarades
header of the e-mail
so it appears like sent from someone's else
computer.
The true sender can be revealed by looking at full
header:
Received: from host47-49.pool80180.interbusiness.it (HELO MARIO)
(80.180.49.47) by omega.abol.it with SMTP; 4 Jun 2003 16:59:15
-0000<FONT
size=2>=========================================================
(the .it domain clearly shows that it is from ITALY
)
E-mails sent from *MY* computer have always
*.wroclaw.sdi.tpnet.pl domain in
the "Received: from" line in the header.
SMTP protocol is very old and developed when Internet had few
thousands of users
(academic mostly) and there were NO spam, NO viruses, etc.
That's why
SMTP mail protocol offers no security and allows to set the
'sender' string to ANY
address. One can easily send the e-mail that will
masquarade as being you or anyone
on this list.
