[amibroker] Re: Study ID

while we are at it:

one can live with 2 character IDs and devise a scheme how to label
line studies, but this nevertheless raises the question: Why can IDs
only be 2 characters long? Who the hell invented this? ;)

Ok, 2 characters are efficient in term of memory use and processing
time, and Amibroker was also developed for the Amiga platform (still
have my old A500 and even a C64).

But today with fast memory-rich PCs imagine being able to use more
meaningful labels (which still could be abbreviations), e.g.
PDnTrend1 for PrimaryDownTrend #1 etc.

Imagine further that exploration formulae, making use of the meta
information on studies as proposed in the previous messages, could
raise alerts to notify the user of violations or other conditions
related to the line studies.

Would be much more meaningful with longer labels than just 2
character IDs.

best regards,

Wolfgang
