I don't know about the exponential MA type, given Bigtrend's Price Headley
description:

X-day Average of [(close of today - close of yesterday) * Volume of today]

Elder preferred to look at the interplay between a 2-day average and a
13-day average. The slope of the 13-day average was considered to be the
direction of the trend, while the 2-day average served as a countertrend
indicator (for example, if the 13-day trend is up, and the 2-day trend went
from positive to negative, this is considered only a reaction and traders
should be ready to buy as the stock breaks over the high of the latest 2
days.
