Hello,
1. Both settings would work and there is no much difference
when using MS plugin. Things are different when using other plugins.
For example QT plugin REQUIRES 'local data storage' to be ENABLED.
2. Few things to watch:
a) you have to switch the DATA SOURCE to "Quote Tracker"
b) you have to have the same ticker symbols
c) you have to click on ADVERTISEMENTS in QUOTETRACKER
for QTserver to work. (or use registered quotetracker).

3. Yes you can write plugins using C++ (
AMiBroker development Kit provides sample code for
Visual C++ and DevC++ (free compiler))
4. You can run AmiBroker on linux only via WINE.
