has not been my experience. Long trades tend to work best when you are taking a 
chunk out of the middle of some level of trend. Your exit criteria may be a 
slowing of momentum, a cross of some or some combination of indicators etc. It 
is very difficult to write a system that trades tops and bottoms, certainly 
beyond me. My shorts look for a definite weakness in the stock, my longs look 
for a definite strength in the stock. Seldom does either reverse its self over a 
few short bars.....

Hi All,
 
I've been testing a short system and find the results 
interesting.
 
However, when I set up a long system based on the  mirror 
image of the
short system, my results are definitely 
uninteresting.
 
For those with more experience, is it reasonable to expect 
that long and
short systems, based on the same, but reversed, criteria, 
would generate
similar results?
