  Hello,

  Sorry but AB is not able to guess that it should remove
  CME___ from the file name to get the date.
  You need to add a single line at the very top of your data
  file$DATE_MDY 050103

  and then AB will be able to import it.

  Best regards,Tomasz Janeczkoamibroker.com

    Subject: [amibroker] ASCII FILE FORMAT
    QUESTION

    After
    reviewing the help file I have a question about the date when importing an
    ASCII file.  My file contains no date field, just ticker, open, high
    low, close ect.,  but the file name comes in the form of: CME___050103,
    which is of course the date.  If my understanding is correct, if I
    leave the date argument $DATE out of the import format file and
    the $FORMAT line (Date_MDY) in the import format file, AB will get the
    date from the file name.
    <FONT face="Lucida Console"
    size=2>
    My
    question is how will it know what form the date is in - YMD:DMY:MDY
    ect.
    <FONT face="Lucida Console"
    size=2>
    Also,
    how do I get AB to ignore the prefix in the file name: IE:
     CME___
    <FONT face="Lucida Console"
    size=2>
    This
    is the file naming convention used by NAQ (North American Quotations) for
    their EOD Futures data.

    Hope
    this is clear and someone can help with a clear example.
