First of all, any new user should tackle
the - often very difficult and tedious - task to study the library of functions
and coding techniques provided by the AFL library. However, that
will take a lot of time... and most people simply want to press a
becoming-quickly-rich radio button :-) that is impossible to code in
reality

I am one of those new users.
The features I am discussing here would allow new
non-techie Amibroker users to start trading with Amibroker right
away. The tedious nature of checking out the AFL library would be greatly
reduced. BTW, I am referring to new users who already have a pretty good
feel for the markets, and the various technical
indicators. Below, I have copied one of the AFL Library
listings. I would really like to be able to click on a square labeled
"USERS OPINIONS" or perhaps"USERS RESULTS". This would be an added area
for discussion by users who have actually tested the particular AFL code. The
one I copied below is entitled "COMPARE SECTORS AGAINST TICKERS". I selected
this one because the square labeled "LEVEL" showed that it had four
comments. I thought the "COMMENTS" would be the opinions
of other users who had already evaluated it. Instead, the comments
were a lot of code that meant nothing to a non-techie new user.
IMHO ALL of the new and existing
Amibroker users would benefit greatly by the addition of an area in
the AFL library reserved for only the verbal discussions of users
opinions and experiences with these various custom AFL
codes.
Immediately below, I have copied the
comment that I saw on this board which caused me to go check out Dimitris's
Trend Detector. This is an example of the kinds of comments I would like to see
in a new "USERS OPINIONS" area in the AFL Library. <FONT

of work with TREND DETECTOR. I can see what you are doing,
thanks

Compares relative strength, StochRSI,
relative volume, and RSI. Good stocks must be assigned to the right
sectors...garbage in / garbage out. Scan the enclosed AFL then set up the
indicators that follow. ...
BTW, Dimitris, I really like your trend detector. I
have yet to study it a lot, but it appears to have less whipsaws that the
PARABOLIC SAR indicator. I plan to do a quick non-techie test of it on the
QQQ's. I will do this by recording a buy on the open when I first see
it turn green in yahoo EOD data, and I will have it sell on the open on the
first day after it turns red. Also, it would be great if the AFL library
had a feature that allowed us to have an email alert sent to us
anytime a change is made to an item in the library that we have registered
an interest in. Ron D
