Re: [amibroker] Japanese characters

I think you are getting asked about the Japanese language pack because the
original sender is somehow using that character set. If you look at your raw
email, one of the MIME parts looks like this:

------=_NextPart_000_06F0_01C3013F.45A981D0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-2022-jp"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

In outlook express, go to Format -> Encoding. As I write this, it said
Japanese (JIS). I've switched it to Western European, so I am guessing it
won't ask recipients of this email about the Japanese language pack.

To everyone, this post from Graham just asked me if I wanted to install the
Japanese language pack when I clicked on it. Also, when I clicked on reply,
in order to create this post, the Japanese language pack offer reappeared
again. I just manually changed the subject of this reply to "Japanese
characters". All of Dingo's posts have been triggering the language pack
offer. Ron D

It was recommended to me to do a clean install

Bob,

I'm also on ME. If I change to XP would you recommend a clean install, or
simple upgrade?

Sounds like the ME update caused something to occasionally grab the
clock timer. A # of games used to do that.

BTW I'd strongly suggest dumping ME for 2k or XP.

Thank you very much Dan - I *think* I have fixed the problem. Sounds
strange, but I think it was somehow caused when I downloaded and
installed
the latest WinME update from the MS site. I noticed the trouble started
the
day after I did this, so just for the heck of it I went to Norton
Utilities
and ran WinDoctor, DiskDoctor and Registry Optimizer, and the clock has
been
right back on time ever since. I have no clue what it fixed, but I am
not
one to look a gift horse in the mouth : - )
