Hi Steve:
sorry you're going thru the same pains. Before U do the reformat
thing definitely try the REinstall route over your existing op
system. That way U save all your existing programs/files.
I did that a couple of times with Win98 but my problem was apparantly
in the registry and couldn't be exorcised by any method other than a
reformat and reload (a real pain if U can avoid it). Since my system
is a Dell there's "lifetime" phone support which I used extensively
in the reformat procedure. Unless you're really versed
in "confusors" I'd suggest some kind of support the first time. I
think Microsoft charges $30 or so for help.
On the plus side it did get rid of my problems and AB was easy to
reload and bring up to speed outside of the problems noted in my
post. If you read TJ's reply, he nailed the cause/solution so you'll
be prepared for it.
Sure hope a reinstall works for U instead of a reformat job.
Good luck!
Chuck
