Graham: thanks. Since TJ has just said he will add it, I apparently was
trying to do something that could not be done...no wonder it did not
work.

Looks to me that text by default only goes onto the default layer, or
weekly/monthly/intraday. You can copy/paste between these, I just tried
it.

Cheers,

Does anyone have an idea how to transfer text **TO** a layer if it has
already been entered on the default layer, in other words, change its
layer without retyping it?

Subject: [amibroker] Transferring and Hiding text on a layer

After having reviewed TJ's 12/8/2002 message on details of using layers,
I can not do the following:

I have added a bunch of labels and text information without regard to
layers (so I assume these are on the default as well as intraday layers
-- which are checked).

I want to "transfer" the text labels to a new layer, then uncheck the
new layer to hide the text.

He is what I tried:

I checked custom layer 5 layer and clicked on one text item.
I right clicked on the Custom5 layer and opened the property box
The name "Custom Layer 5" shows in the Name box; "Lock Visibility" is
unchecked
I click ok, then uncheck the layer Custom layer 5. However, my text
does not disappear.

Can someone tell me the steps to go thru to move or transfer my text to
a layer that can be hidden?

Thanks,
Ken
